Home-made burger and potato wedges

Category: main course
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:
Serves 2
150g minced beef
2 burger buns
2 medium baking potatoes
1 egg
1/2 onion
1 tomato
2 slices of cheese (like emmental)
condiments (ketchup, mayo, mustard)
salt and pepper
3 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp paprika

Preparation:
1. Preheat oven at 200C
2. Wash the potatoes well and cut them into 8 wedges, leaving the skin on (cut in half lengthwise, then in half again lengthwise then in half again lengthwise)
3. In a large bowl, toss around the potato wedges with the oil. Add the paprika and some salt and continue to toss around the wedges until they are evenly coated.
4. Place the wedges on a sheet of grease-proof paper and bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes turning them over half way through
5. Meanwhile, peel and chop the onion and slice the tomatoes
6. In a large bowl, mix the minced beef with the chopped onions, the egg, salt and pepper
7. Divide the mixture into 2 large balls, then in the palm of your hand gently squeeze down to flatten into patties around 2 to 3cm thick
8. When the potato wedges are 10 minutes away from being done, heat up a little olive oil in a frying pan and place the burgers, cook on medium heat for 3 minutes (for medium rare) to 5 minutes (for well done) on each side.
9. Prepare the burger buns: slice them open, add ketchup, mayo, mustard to taste, place the beef burger and top with slices of tomato and a slice of cheese
10. Serve with the potato wedges
